We, as human beings are constantly being forced to make choices in life because our wants, almost always, exceed our needs.  We often have more serious choices in life such as, should you keep going to school or is it time to find that job to pay for all those goods and services.  There are, of course, even more serious choices in the world to continue the negotiations or just declare war ...

Are there barriers for effective listening?

ABSOLUTELY!

Have you ever been in a meeting with a client and had a horrible time trying to listen or even concentrate on what they are saying?  Whether it’s a physical, personal, verbal or a non verbal barrier, they can all make it hard to pay attention to what is being said.

Did you know that most people speak at about 125 words per minute?  Amazing I know, so how are you supposed to pay attention when you have these barriers to deal with every day?

QUALITY VS QUANTITY

Social media is a great way of getting to know people, clients, and exposing your business to other people. One way of doing this is by utilizing a great tool called Twitter.  By writing current and interesting comments you will attract followers from around the world.  This will in turn bring people to your website and other social media tools that you have linked to it. The more followers you get the more noticeable your company will become, thus eventually bringing more clientele, and lots of great new interesting people.

One of my favorite social media tools is Twitter and here are some tips that I have used to help me while tweeting:

1.  Make sure you have a profile picture (avatar) or Business Logo on your twitter page. Put a personal back ground picture that shows your personality. This will peak more interest from other people.

2.  Try to keep your “following to followers” ratio as close as possible.

3.  Follow people who you find interesting and who will make a complimentary contact to your business.  Also make sure you tweet about things that they will be interested in ...

These are a few of my favorite tools for social media:

1.  LinkedIn

This is a great tool for connecting with other professionals in the same line of work.  Individuals can find employment by advertising themselves on LinkedIn with an amazing profile that’s 90 – 100% complete.  You can stand out to various job hunters, which are hired by companies, all around the world.  Another great aspect of LinkedIn is the discussions being added every day with so much great informative information and tips.
